June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day

At the Chamber, one of our goals is to foster partnerships with Indigenous businesses and stakeholders while increasing participation and growth of the Indigenous business community here in Saskatoon. In the name of this goal, your Chamber has struck the Indigenous Economic Growth Committee with strong leaders focused on continued learning as we work together with our Indigenous community in the name of economic reconciliation. Please take a moment to read this open letter from our committee Chair, CeCe Baptiste:

"June is National Indigenous History Month. It is a time to reflect and consider the great contributions Indigenous Peoples have provided to shaping our country and communities into what we experience today. Our business community is vibrant, shaped by citizens from all walks of life and cultures. Through the act of reconciliation, we can continue to build on our strengths by honoring each other and the gifts we each offer to building on our economic position. The Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce is taking this time to share this opportunity of learning with our Saskatoon business community.

We each have a responsibility to participate in reconciliation. I am personally inviting you on this journey with me. I ask the business community, individually and collectively, to join this conversation with patience and curiosity. I am continuously humbled by our business leaders who approach this conversation with respect and consideration. It is an honor to be a part of shaping our community and am hopeful for our city. Together, we will create a future where all communities are valued in each part of our economic sector. Kinanāskomitin."
